Take the leap!

Artists, performers and poets – we need you !

After hosting our first festival at Batchworth Lock in 2021, we’re doing it all again! Hosted by Waterways Arts; a collective that brings together practitioners based on, connected to, or inspired by, the waterways. The festival will be held between 16th – 18th September 2022, and we are looking for the following:

Existing shows

We can offer performance spaces both indoors and outside on the site – if you have a show you’d like to appear as part of the festival we’d love to hear from you! We can offer space free of charge with seating, sound and basic lighting – you’ll receive 80% box office.

5-10 minute acts

Think music, dance, comedy, variety, circus – whatever takes your fancy! You’ll be included in a cabaret style line up and take a split of ticket sales – we’re very happy to hear from new performers, or works in progress.

Workshop facilitators

Again, we can offer space inside or out – just let us know what you’d like to do!

If you have material inspired by or linked to canals and waterways, here is you chance to share it with a receptive audience. We are re-running “Still Waving” our hybrid poetry event. Last year’s performers included: Dru Marland, Emma Purshouse, Steve Haywood, Janul and Phil Underwood.

“Still Waving: Treat yourself to an evening of watery words and images plucked from the murky depths of the canal and boating life. First time and long time poets will be reading their works live or online to amuse, shock and move you. You can sit back at home or join us in Rickmansworth for the craic”
